Madrasa
Madrasa is the Arabic word for any type of educational institution, secular or religious, whether for elementary instruction or higher learning. Space and silence are rare commodities amid the souks of Morocco's tourist magnet Marrakech. Morocco's historic Madrasas have for centuries provided an oasis of contemplative calm amid the chaos of their teeming towns. Marble floors give way to mosaic tile walls, immaculate plasterwork, cedar lattice and intricately carved wooden eaves and awnings. Well worth a visit to anyone with an eye for beauty.
